Everyone is looking for that one ultimate secret that unlocks all the success to your digital campaigns. What we all should be doing is making sure that we’re covering all our bases in order to have a strong foundation.

We've listed the 4 crucial basic steps below to get you started on your next successful campaign. This ensures that you will have a steady and healthy campaign in which you can build variations and experiments for the highest ROI.

  1. Know Your Audience

This seems obvious, but even if you already know who your audience is, it is helpful to create personas for each of your demographics. Create a better understanding by doing market research and learn what’s important to each potential client. This will allow you to reach targeted audiences effectively. Key things to look for are location, age, income, job title, interests, challenges, and goals for each demographic.

  1. Evaluate the Proper Media Channels

Not all media channels are created equal. Whether it’s digital ads on Google AdWords or a tweet, it’s important to have a purpose behind the usage of each media channel. Just like your key demographics, research what fits your company’s goals. If say, your law firm is using Twitter as their main broadcast, there will be detrimental factors leading to your low results. Research SEO, Social Media marketing, PPC (Pay-Per-Click) marketing, and Facebook Marketing. Note that we list Facebook marketing separately since there are various components and features that set it apart from other social media.

  1. Set Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)

Find out what metrics matter to your company. Is it likes? Is it website clicks? Is it leads? Your metrics will dictate the strategy you implement and the way you interact with your audience. This will also keep your company’s vision focused on your set KPI and will dissuade your company from getting distracted with the ups and downs of metrics that are irrelevant. Getting as specific and especially, as realistic as possible with your KPI’s will keep you accountable and will ensure an increase in your results without the disappointment of setting your expectations too high.

  1. Analyze Your Results

You’re in the middle of your campaign and you’re wondering, is my strategy working? At every point in your campaign, you should be checking your results. Whether it is an hourly, daily, or weekly check, see what’s working in your campaign and strengthen those areas. Understand what’s not working and why, and deviate from that strategy. Digital marketing has so many moving variables and evolving technologies that make it a complex and enormous beast to take on.
